I will admit this was a weekend of bumming around. Errands, laundry, cleaning, and so on. Watching an entire season of Brothers & Sisters (so the library doesn’t have that great of a DVD selection on Fridays…) while knitting a set of grey alpaca arm warmers, and generally enjoying minimal human contact.
And– I splurged on some junk food. The winner was definitely Food Should Taste Good’s Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips. They have a great sweet and salty contrast with plenty of crunch. They are still tortilla chips, that is, fried and processed, but a bit lower in salt and the sweet potatoes add in a nice dash of vitamin A.
The chips complemented both a basic black bean soup and salsa. Because the sweet potato is a more dominant flavor than the corn, they would probably go well with even those foods where corn is less than ideal, like hummus. They were also delicious plain, but a little acid or spice helps cut the fat and sweetness.
Oh, and they are gluten-free, vegan, whole-grain, dairy-free, and the bag was generally covered in icons. On sale, reasonably affordable. Normal prices, a little pricey.
