Today, August 7, makes the beginning of Farmer’s Market Week.  What are you planning to do to celebrate?  Farmer’s markets around the country will be hosting extra demonstrations, music, kid’s activities, and more.  Swing to pick up your weekly produce and learn a new recipe or enjoy some good music.

What’s in season?  Look for plums, peaches, blueberries, early apples, nectarines, apricots, and raspberries.  Plan your meals around hearty greens like chard, collards, kale, and cabbage with a nice side of fresh tomatoes, summer squash, zucchini, and plenty of peppers.  It’s also the time of year to enjoy perfectly picked sweet corn, shiny eggplant, pale cauliflower, and slightly alien kohlrabi.  Onions, carrots, lettuce, and beans round out some of the typical offerings.
